Non Christian Spouse? There might be a work-around!

August 26th, 2009  |  Published in Blog

Quite recently, Lukas made an interesting observation about Feng Shui masters. He noted that Lilian Too was very strict and straightforward whereas Joey Yap gave people alternatives, practical ways to follow the beliefs.

We all know what Paul said in 2 Corinthians 6:14. “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” Yes, that’s what most, if not the majority of churches has been trumpeting us with all the years!

Have you thought about “Why is it unwise for a follower of Christ to marry an unbeliever?”

To answer the question, firstly you have to remove all your preconceptions, stereotypes and prejudgment of Believers and Non-Believers. One of the most “painful” ones to me is that, we will be influenced by the non-believing partner and turn to their gods. It indirectly implies that the Christian faith I have (or We have) is very weak and fragile.

Very insulting indeed.

Our Daily Bread (a Christian devotion) seems to offer a practical alternative citing 1 Peter 3:1

Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives.

To me, it sounds like.. to the ladies who can’t find a good Christian man, just be submissive to your non-Christian husband so that you might influence them.

Ok, so the context might be cultural. But we have to be careful when playing the “out of context” game when interpreting the bible, because it could be as easy to backfire against our ideology.

It seems quite unfair that Peter did not gave men an option. He seems to prejudge that men are weak and cannot “control our woman!” I don’t blame him, because “Are we human, or are we dancers?”

What “is complicated?”

August 23rd, 2009  |  Published in Blog

Here’s some food for thought, for those people who indicate in their relationship status “Its complicated”.

[Yahoo! Answers]

It means, don’t go near him/her with a ten foot pole!
Who would seriously put that on the web, who has class,
Integrity, etc.
He/She should just not have ticked off the question, answered it period, until they got to know someone better.
They think that by saying that people will be drawn to their ‘poor me’ status. Not. To me it means, Thank YOU for putting that out there – Now I Know not to go near you!

It means they’re ‘technically’ still Involved with someone.
You know the type.

Yupp. Very interesting, huh?

[10pm edit]
I googled myself on Dogpile -> Videos and whoa.. I remember Patrick mentioning this, but.. I didn’t actually see it myself.

I’m impressed!

I think I just saw God

August 22nd, 2009  |  Published in Blog

Last few night’s dreams were like an ongoing Family Guy series. No specific continuations, just random flashbacks.

I died in Manchester.

Then, I ascended via a 5-storey escalator to the meeting place, where a few guys from cell were already there. When I was in disbelief about what just happened, and my apparent acceptance into the “God’s army”, Jon was like “I know.. I know..” when I exclaimed, “WHAT? I MADE IT up here?”

We were at war!

The funny thing was that we were sent back to Earth on a mission to tell people about the good news. We had like, superpowers to do crazy shit. It was the self-less ones where we can have no personal gains, but we can really bless others richly. Death was a non-issue now, cuz like in the game “DOOM”, we could re-spawn limitlessly.

Keeping in mind that this is a dream and I don’t want to bear false witness, disclaimer 101, etc.

In the dream, God was very generous in his entry requirements.

I’m the type of guy who screws up kaw kaw, sin non-stop with weird shit, the “walk with God” also very dubious. Not practising what I preach. But God still accepted me. I don’t recall the “good and faithful servant” line when I met Him, but more of a pat in the back sorta “reception”.

GAH~!!!

Okay, off to Font-say now with @lukasfoo and see Shooklin & Bok Advocate and Solicitors at Taylor’s Main Campus 11am :)

Freedom fighter’s Dream

August 20th, 2009  |  Published in Blog

Whoa, crazy man.

I had the freedom fighter dream.

I received a package from my leader. Its a nuke. We got it at a coffee shop. We walked 300 metres (it was in Singapore). The Singapore Armed Forces swoop us down on 3 angles. Left and right flanks were the regular Mazda police cars. And right down the centre, the police chief came in a VW Beetle (i shit you not!)

Being a law-abiding citizen, I laid flat on the floor with my hands behind my back. My accomplice, Lukas ran up a stairs to a small warehouse.

I had to snooze my 6:30 alarm 4 times to digest what I just dreamt!

Just found out Man Utd lost to Burnley. We always kena burned, last time by BlackBURN.. meh.

nicehand

On fourth street, he made his straight, bet all in. I called. Made my full house (aces full of Jacks). My iTunes immediately played Po-po-po-poker Face! Its amazing all these little signs can be misconstrued for, as a message from beyond. Interesting thought?

[8 am update]

quadace

Its nice to have pocket rockets and flop a QUAD ace! That’s one in 8600 chance of it happening!
