First Five Days of Work

[edit] It’s here!
First five days of Hong Bao Media / Investor Central
Day 1 (24 April)
Woke up at 6am, left the hotel at about 7:15am heading towards the office at Chin Swee Road, Singapore. Did some final minute preparations for the booth (that we were supposed to set up the night before, but didn’t). It was rushed, but the objective of our presence at the ATIC conference was for event coverage, and to grab some footage.
Mission accomplished. I had a first taste of video editing professionally using Final Cut Express HD on a Mac. It is a steep learning curve, but lucky I was quick to latch on.
Day 2 (25 April)
Sunday morning, early start as well. Spend final moments at the office with Mark Laudi, my Australian boss, teaching me the fine techniques and shortcuts on how to quickly push video out, from the capturing to the publishing.
Took a flight home via AirAsia, and reached home at about 6pm before dinner with Lukas & Yang Wei.
Day 3 (26 April, Monday)
Monday blues. First day at work. Met the nice ladies at the Office Suite my company is located at. It is Nomad Suites, Jalan P Ramlee on Menara Hap Seng.
Got straight to work.
I tried to work on the 4 videos I brought back from Singapore. No success. Zilch. More frustration than any progress, due to some missing PNG and other support files.
Very frustrating day.
Day 4(27 April)
Things went so fast I can’t recall what I did. Had lunch with MJ, my colleague who showed me where to eat around the area. Seems like it’s all expensive stuff, but there are cheap food along the lanes. They come in vans and mostly Malay food and kueh.
Was in constant communication with our Singapore mothership trying to obtain the files. At the end of the working day, we’re almost there.
Day 5 (28 April, Wednesday)
Today was a decent day.
See the video box at the bottom right? Yes, that was what we were working on.
Today was supposed to be Maybank IB – Hartalega , so look out for that one.
Production, editing, everything, script-writing, all has to happen in a 4 hour window. By right, by lunchtime the video should be up. Due to my carelessness, noob mistakes, this project failed TODAY. My awesome colleage, Nurul is cleaning up my mess for me. I pushed a 1080i file over Streamyx (at 200KB/s, pretty good) and hopefully it should be up any time now (9-10pm).
[edit] Here are some bandwidth usage stats:
27 Apr 2010 11 23 24 29.82 GB
28 Apr 2010 15 33 35 30.36 GB
That is huge!
I think my quota is only 50GB! Heh, that 5GB transfer is killing me!
my Malaysia 29.83 GB
sg Singapore 26.10 GB
Amazing.
To be honest, I learnt a lot. I need to be more attentive. I need to make more realistic estimates. I must not overpromise because I tend to under-deliver.
So all in all, it was a good learning week for me.
Tomorrow (Thursday night, 8pm, Starbucks SS2) there is a Talk on FMCG, Telco and Crocs. So be there for freebies and a good time!
Oh, I wonder how about Labour Day 1st May (Saturday). Am I getting Monday (3rd May) off? HHMMMMMMmmm..???

hi there wonderful little journal ya got right here ;) I am using the identical web theme on my website however for whatever odd explanation it appears to stream easier on this web site despite the fact that yours includes considerably more material. Have you been utilizing some plugins or widgets that speed it up? If you could possibly reveal the titles so I could use them on my own web pages so twilight new moon users could watch twilight eclipse online trailers and videos more easily I’d always be pleased – regards in advance :)

When you think that you have an important party or some kind of function that you should host, do you ever start have mixed feeling about just getting it done? It can be very stressful, just the thought of having to entertain, it shouldn’t be that way. The way that you approach doing the entertaining is what makes a big difference.
