Last night I paid a man 10 bucks to sing to me. His (stage) name was Calvin Chua probably early sixties but youthful Penang lang migrated to KL 30 yrs ago.
I asked for his favorite Hokkien song (for the lack of any good ones I know of)
He got up, introduced his song, told the crowd I’m from Tua Sua Ka — and sang something about heartbreaks and failed relationship / courting! I didn’t understand the lyrics at all (poetic Hokkien not my forté)!
My ears listened, my brain decoded the sound waves — but what struck me the most was that his voice was so soothing to the soul! Not in a demonic way or anything — but it really connected to me and made me smile!
It’s been a long while since I listened to live old-uncle, sexy-lala- esque karaoke in the food court. But the experience has been worth it!
My advise – go support a local karaoke joint and request for your favorite Chinese songs. These people are awsm. Support old people with golden voice, not the sexy chics (mind you, some can sing too) cuz of their outfits :p haha.. At least the chics made some men / uncle happy as they sippin’ on beer!
edit: I remember one of my cousin’s wedding. An old lady went up to sing karaoke for the couple — it is customary, I guess.. the odd thing is that she brought her own VCD with lyrics. I mean, these aunties are all gung-ho prepared! It was a sensational Thai hit (obviously with lots of “raks”) tee hee…

This morning, my housemate woke me up cuz her housekey screwed up. Blargh, my beauty sleep ruined and my day will be a grumpy one~!!
Went to play online Poker. Halved my chips on two bets. Flopped a draw twice!! one was a Club and the other was a heart FLUSH draw. All i need was another one. Guess what? On both occasions, nada. nil. zilch. Probability wise, I was >70% chance already, but when its not going your way, it will NOT go your way.
I went back to my hometown recently and saw a job opening, just 1km from my house. Its a Singapore based events / advertising company and they’re offering decent money. There are 25 positions, so I’m guessing they’re new. Its a huge opportunity for me, interview on the 7th!
If you look through my tweets [link] I stopped at Ipoh for dinner. There was this Indian seller selling chap fan.. Indian-Chinese fusion. He had the food I liked… like Petai :) Very satisfying meal. There were 4 coffee shops side by side and 3 cybercafes, and 1 pool centre. Wah, it was like the SS15 in Subang!
Jerica Chai’s Birthday is on the 5th, :) My “public enemy numero uno” back then. Once I threatened to burn her house down (for annoying me) and her mum had the fiercest look that shocked the life out of me. Shame on you, Jerica, such a tell tale ;) lol.
Friday, lets do some crazy shit, ok? Bowling, movie… :) Bring it on!

Q: What did the Blackburn Rover fan did to his car?
A: He would park it!
[from an old friend, Azman!]
Off to KL now.

While walking home from breakfast, I held a sweet wrapper and aimed it towards a dustbin. I told myself, “aim high, aim far”. I launched it, and whoops! Forgot to factor in the wind! Phailed.
I just did a fresh install of Win XP.
It took 60 minutes to do a complete format of my 300GB partition. Some say its better, and gives protection to the disk to be error free. Lets see how it goes.
T- 0:00 Formatting Complete
T- 0:01 Copy basic files
T- 3:12 Restart computer
T- 4:00 Approx. 39 minute screen
T- 9:25 Approx. 33 minutes. Finished installing devices
T- 10:05 Approx 30 minutes. Done installing network
T- 11:25 Approx 24 minutes. Copying files
T- 12:08 Approx 22 minutes. Completing install
T- 13:45 Approx 18 minutes. Installed start menu items
T- 15:15 Approx 9 minutes. Registering components
T- 16:50 Approx 1 minute. Saving settings

Just for reference, its now T-45 minutes and my graphic driver is on the way. I think it’ll be another 1 hour before its really usable. Its funny to note that in Windows 7, Microsoft really asks its users to prepare at least 20-24 hours for a complete upgrade from Vista!!!!!
