More Accountability Required, Philip

July 24th, 2011  |  Published in Blog

I was on leave 9th July to 24 July. Let’s see how much of that time out has been accounted for “reasonably spent time”.

The first weekend was dominated by Bersih rally. I took a bus home to Lunas and ate durians til my heart’s content! It was fun to read the reactions, comments and first hand experiences. I saw some opposition agenda which includes how badly our country is in, the state of our governance and now just today, news about AirAsia moving out corporate HQ to Jakarta.

First week was also when I experienced government hospital’s “over-stretched-ness”. Don’t really matter if you’re walk-in Malaysian citizen or a big timer with first class privileges, there was severe lack of manpower — ahem, dedicated manpower and facilities for the old, ailing and in need.

Weekend I manage to watch Harry Potter 7.2 and catch up with many friends whom otherwise I had no time to meet up with.

I watched the Arsenal training session and it was a good experience.

I went to Singapore few days later and had a good time exploring the city and marina sands. Lovely place, but expensive.

By the weekend, dad is finally recovering from his surgery. We having good time also catching up with nice friends visiting dad in the hospital.

I ran 4 km yesterday — more than I have ever ran in the gym. Feeling happy about it, but to lose weight it’s all about consistency.

Yesterday was Saturday, today it is Sunday. And tomorrow my work resumes — it’s good to go back to work and see the nice people!

25 December Christmas Day :)

26 December

FOOD & Football

Had Bak Kut Teh, also Penang Asam Laksa and Duck Meat Koay Teow Soup. Very nice.

Football at night also very nice. Malaysia won 3-0, with the help of lasers. I think at one point the guys were laughing cause Twitter trended the term #Malaysialasercheat … hillarious.

27 December

TRAIN RIDE was good. I’m in Ipoh now. We’re 1 hour behind due to delayed train going North. NO worries, cuz all the way to Ipoh it’s double tracked. According to schedule, it’ll take about 3 hours only. So not too worried. A tad hungry tho. Let’s go to the “Canteen / Buffet car” on board this train! Oh, and I found Karaoke on board as well!

Next few days will be tense. Cuz I need to find a new place, and need to move out!

See you in 2011 and watch out for my awesome podcasts on Youtube :)

Plans Til Month End

November 11th, 2010  |  Published in Blog

Yesterday was the highlight of my 7 months here at Hong Bao Media.. having “four” people in one place. We’ve got Mattina far left, who’s the 1337 Final Cut Pro pro, the newbie Krystal and MJ, my partner in crime (at least during lunch hour and Bieber discussions)

It has been a wild ride.

Ok, after my last day on Friday the 12 November 2010, I will spend the weekend at DUMC. Thursday practices have been shifted to Saturday 1:15pm (gah) so I’ll be occupied til 7:30pm (after debrief) for weekend’s worship celebration. Sunday is business as usual. In the evening, I plan to zoom to Penang by bus.

I was just discussing with my cell group mates. If you bus, it’ll crash. If you train, it’ll derail (SG, just yesterday got derailed), if you fly, the engine fall off. So how? Sooooo HOW????

I’ll be chilling in my kampung house until 25 Nov (unless dad comes back earlier). Will attend a WiMax forum / event perhaps earlier that week. Then it’s DUMC / SIB Christmas production show rehearsals all the way til 5 December. Check out madworld.my for details about the show.

I’m excited about just finally having time for myself, to reflect on life and what I’ve accomplished in 2010. And perhaps do things I like!
