lukasfoo.com

Just a plug to the new lukasfoo.com

Construction in progress, but sexciting things to come.

Had a good game of bowling with Patrick and Lukas. Lukas came out tops today (Won’t be surprised to find picture evidence of this).

Had a fun time accompanying him to make passport at Subang Airport Terminal 2. Queue was ok. And yes, we had 1901 hotdogs.

Still contemplating whether to go Genting next weekend instead of Singapore. There’s a Texas Hold’em tournament, and Darrel has accomodation. If I can raise the RM 500 + lodging & transport needed, I will participate also. Just for the experience.

Ok, off to CG now.

The Advertures of Lukas Foo: The Good Samaritan

June 4th, 2009  |  Published in Blog

Before our special presentation, philipkhor.com would like to say a few words:

1. OMG, auto-tune is the shit. that’s what made britney spears sound so good. now that this technology is widely available to the public, its like.. wtf, you don’t have to sing good. auto tune … levels the playing ground. no wonder, people on american idol had to sing their heart out, yet get so little respect.

2. we are all good at one thing or another. Aidan is super good at guitar. Lukas drives like a F1 racer, fast, and safe. I like to think I’m half decent in badminton and web development.

You don’t have to be good at EVERYTHING. Specialise.

3. Rift. Sexy word. I know how to play the rift to Planet Shakers, All the Praise. Giler.. and also the truth about the guitarist who rifts.. he is very talented.

4. Kathryn Ho can play badminton AT A COMPETITIVE LEVEL. Bravo.

5. Twitter is super powerful. Its like an ad-hoc IRC chat room, with the power and sophistication of e-mail, with short addresses / nicknames, hash-tagging which allows you to keep track of a developing topic. It is wonderful. Now we need it to be localised. Like Microsoft Exchange server. The mobile integration is superb.

6. Its Friday tomorrow. That means BOWLING DAY! Wootzah!

7. Praise Jesus for such an interesting half year of 2009. I learnt more than I did for the past 3 years, in all aspects of life, love and relationships.  And most importantly, emotions, and BUSINESS.

Ok, here are the Yooooooo Tube videos. At me on twitter @thepippo

Proton Exora Claypot Chicken Rice

April 16th, 2009  |  Published in Blog

Exora, Persona, Saga is nice. Exora got Lukas’ seal of approval. So January 2010, if I’m still in Malaysia, I’ll “keong” one of these puppies.

Yet again, we played Catan with some friends from SIB. This one damn Kan-Cheong. Mr. Patrick Ho “fong-shui” to make it more sexciting. At the end, an interesting scenario developed. If Darrel were to build a road and house at an intersection, it would chop Lukas’ longest road effort, and give me the longest road and 10 points. Darrel also touches 10 points on the same move. So Yang Wei, how?

We had Claypot Chicken Rice with salted fish and lap cheong near Wisma Atria near KDU PJ. That’s where we bought our Catan. Had lunch with Yap and Merlvyn.

Lukas got some fun pics, so hopefully I can get it and show you guys. Check out his blog for updates.

Tomorrow got Engineering Fair at Taylors Main Campus starting 8am. I’ll be there around 10am. Then its BOWLING, baby!

Man Utd v Arsenal CL Semifinals 2009

April 16th, 2009  |  Published in Blog

When they said Man Utd had the easiest draw of the group, I agreed. But I told YW, “Yes, but we’ll be meeting the toughest opponent in the semifinals in Arsenal”. I was right.

I had a dream. No, not Martin Luther King sorta dream, but rather a weird and unconventional one. I was involved in a situation where I had to make a decision, and I backed down instead of following through. Was I easily swayed, or can we call it a rational move? I like it when a well-timed-aggression move pays off. Which reminds me:

Lukas has a good Poker face.

When I woke up, it was already the 60th minute. Didn’t see any goal action but I hear that it was from an impossible distance. Footytube.com to the rescue.

Bird Word – coined by Yap and gang, it is a literal translation of the Hokkien phrase “chiao hua”. The long running Simpsons competitor, Family Guy had a recent episode a month ago using a 60s music, “Bird is the Word”….. that goes something like… Youtube [link]

Surfing Bird – The Trashmen

A-well-a everybody’s heard about the bird
B-b-b-bird, bird, bird, b-bird’s the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, well the bird is the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, b-bird’s the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, well the bird is the word
A-well-a bird, bird, b-bird’s the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, b-bird’s the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, well the bird is the word
A-well-a bird, bird, b-bird’s the word
A-well-a don’t you know about the bird?
Well, everybody knows that the bird is the word!
A-well-a bird, bird, b-bird’s the word
A-well-a…

Maybe we should make it our theme song! We’ll come up with a Phailed Remix ft Tiesto ;) [dreams]

We had a conference last night with Bob. I think there were 5-6 participants, and Skype technology was used. It performed well but it could be better.

Taylors Engineering Fair on Friday 8am-5pm. 30 over projects, probably 5 will be monetised. It would be fun if two parties [sic investors] were bidding for the same project. Hmmmm…. maybe I should make that happen! :P

God is great.

In response to Lukas Foo

April 3rd, 2009  |  Published in Blog

Refer to lukas.foo regarding legality of a Catan move.

I do love a healthy lively debate, so here goes!

First off, upon execution of the move, you let out an unusual giggle and barbaric laughter. That itself shows the dubious nature and intent of your move. But that’s ok, lets prove it with some logic.

Secondly, your source is Yahoo! Answers. The “chosen answer by asker” probably was in a situation like you. I feel its like a medical surgeon citing wikipedia on how to remove a growth in a patient’s testicles. If you wanna put $100 on whether you’re right, heck.. i’ll take the time and set up catan-official-club.com with a forum with manipulated results saying I’m right.

However, if you already had your own road built past your opponent’s settlement like below, then you would be able to continue on. It’s just that you would have a more difficult time regaining/holding on to Longest Road since you can only add to your LR requirement from one side at a time and not by building roads from either end.

(this was the quote)

To me, the  move doesn’t make sense. Orange (you) build your road towards the port. Blue chops your road, thus leaving your 3rd segment an orphan. Access is essentially cut to the “port”. If you still insist on building that port, you’re essentially placing a settlement that is NOT connected to your first 2 settlements (of the game).

We know in the rules that once a road is “chopped”, it doesn’t count to your longest road BECAUSE it is not connected. How then, can you continue expansion on a road that leads nowhere. Its like Malaysia decides to build a road from Johor, to Woodlands to Jurong. uh-oh.. Singapore chop off Malaysia’s road at Woodlands. HOW THE HECK can Malaysia build at Jurong, just because we have a small piece of road over there?

I’ve got much more to say about this issue, but its almost 8am. Don’t make me set up catan-official-club.com ;)
