I won 2 or 3 games, but flattened out in the last part. Maybe it was late lah, or maybe my Mojo ran out. Either way, it was a good hangout session with nice people.

When finishing, we met Kathryn and Jamie who just came back from Paroimia – and 2 mamak sessions in OUG area. Hahaha..

Melvyn told me its Week 10 already. Oh shit. Exams are so close – no more play play already lah. Finish up all the assignments, or else mati lah.

I went gym from 12-2, 4-5pm (pool from 2-4). Now I know where my cash all flow out to. GRRR… must reduce!~

Well, tomorrow is another day, the start of another week. God give me strength to carry on living life to the fullest!

I surely know Yap, Wilson and Darrel will say “”bird word, lah!”” when I give my explanation on why I chose relationship when chopping the roasted pork and making a “wish”".

Some might know that I met this dude in the petroleum and gas industry recently. He’s been interested in Taylor’s Engineering talents as well as the possibilities for his company. So yesterday Saturday we had a meeting with him. Not only it was productive, but also information and beneficial; even to a non-Engineering student.

Bottom line is, I was hoping for a successful business and collaborative relationship with this particular boss.

A single meetup between a good looking girl back in high school is probably a catalyst for greater things to come, but at the moment, study and career first, family second, God third, then God willing, maybe we talk about these “serious stuff” when the time is right. At the moment, its good that we open the opportunity lah, but I won’t be as selfish as to put a “booking fee’” or “deposit”" ;)

So, Man United won 5-2 in a thriller. After the first goal conceded, I was just too exhausted from the day’s events. For once, my Internet streaming channel of YES TV! worked flawlessly. But if your physical body cannot handle it, there’s no point pushing.

So far, I’ve listened to the Planet Shakers – Deeper album close to 20 times. Verdict? Yes, it is nice. My favourites are All the Priase and You are Good. Melbourne is worth a visit, not only for the friends there, but also to this wonderful church. I invested in a couple of headsets, one for the phone and another a regular 3.5mm earbud. The earbud sounds like you’re listening in a “hall”". The sound is very hollow and bassy. Its a different experience, so just asking all you audiophiles whether its normal for this to happen. The Sony Ericsson audio converter to 3.5mm … YW predicted it to be RM 200. I got it for RM 20 at Subang Parade.

I wanna talk about being prepared, and the culture of Malaysia in relation to business appointments and meetings.

I gave an e-mail to the attendees to come at 9:30am so we can chat over breakfast and get to know each other, and told them the meeting was at 10am onwards. YW came prompty around 9:30am and we went Foh Foh. I gave calls / messages to the other participants, but phailed.

Nevermind, I had some leeway and by 10:05am YW and I were at the location. Still no sign of anyone! I didn’t panic, cuz I had it all planned. A few phone calls and messages later, I met M at the garden entrance to our prestigeous University campus and later, the boss at around 10:15am. We walked to the meeting area, and luckily the two guys from Taylor’s engineering were here. What a relief! We then started the meeting 10:20am.

Most developed species in this world value their time. When you say “5 minutes”, make sure it is 5 minutes. I got a few more stories to share regarding this meeting, so if you’re free, call me up for a yum-cha session lah :)

Now I’m using Chrome. Its a better browser than Firefox, certaining beating it for speed. But the Download manager is abit funny, and confusing. The tabs also timeout and phail after a few moments of inactivity requiring you to refresh. This browser is still young, so tis forgivable.

I formatted my computer and downgraded to Win XP. Wow, it feels so much faster and more responsive than Vista with its animation. Hopefully the games will perform better. Just waiting for Windows 7 to reach Gold Master.

Meetup with Kate, Sook Kuan and gang tonight for Paroimia. Gonna be interesting lah :)

In the class, I saw a dude with a Lance Armstrong jersey. Damn gaya weh :) But you need a nice body so it would look gorgeous. I got blobs of fats, so.. maybe a years time lah, ok? Here’s how it looks like:

I wasn’t comfortable with the bikes. I think I have big butts, so it kept poking the muscular areas as well as my bones. After 16 hours, I’m feeling the after-effects. Dammit. Maybe I need to get used to it lah.

There’s uphill, downhill, walking-pace, sprint, slow sections, varying resistance. Hahaha.. I kinda cheated when the instructor said “turn up one level, two levels, three levels”. He meant resistance, which would mean having to paddle harder. He can actually see that we’re cheating if we didn’t crank it up. LOL!

Its almost 10:00am. Time for Networking Fundamentals class with Ms. Hiap. She’s awesome, but as with all IT subjects, what is mostly taught is slightly outdated. Later today, bowling at 4pm, Sunway Pyramid.

Then tomorrow 9am meeting with our Student Council sponsor. And Sunday, Paroimia Part 2 with Kate, maybe Cain and Melyvn as well. Got 2 assignments to complete in 14 days, so we’ll keep that in mind too before making plans for crazy visits to crazy places :P

Lukas went for the Mathematically best possible combination of numbers, double 8s, 5s and 9s. I was 2nd in position to choose my first settlement. I went for the 9,10 Mineral and  6 Clay, both of which were scarce.

Early game, my plan worked.. I quickly advanced to build 2 hotels and have another one on the way. But then Lukas manage to get the stuff to build more houses (despite his good numbers being on Wood and Wheat only). Once he got his Wood Port, he was flying.

John/me partnership got a lucky break by drawing 2 victory points and not those useless cards (Monopoly, Road Building, Year Of Plenty, Knight). Being the sole producer of Mineral, hotels were easy to come. We had the bare minimum of roads (far enough for a settlement to be built).

9 points a piece. Lukas monopolises Wood not realising he has most of the wood already. Costly mistake. Our turn, we were “fully loaded” with Minerals and Clay (3-to-1 for Wheat). We stole one of Lukas’ wheat and ninja the win.

What I’m trying to say is that in almost everything in life, the difference between first and second is so miniscule. Google has 70% market share while Yahoo! has only 15%. Both finds similar information and provide similar services. Yahoo had a head start, more features and a bigger team. Google dominates. Why such difference?

It is even more obvious in Formula 1 where first and second is separated by inches. Imagine, machines going at 250km/h across the start/finish line, and all that separates the winner from the runner-up is several inches. Back in the early part of the decade, there was one Qualifying session. 3 cars had identical times. For example, 1 minute 32.075 seconds (right to the THOUSANDth of  a second). And for the first race this year in Melbourne, if the winner were to open a can of Cola and drink as fast as he can, the 10th car would have passed before he finishes his drink. That is, after a 300 Kilometer race.

Success of a project, company or organisation largely depend on the minor details that most people overlook. I’m not asking you to micromanage employees or teammates. You have to trust their skills in certain tasks. But for mission critical areas (that you need to identify), it is BEST you do it yourself.

Same with knowledge. Mr. Ali gave a good talk on why people nowadays don’t have jobs. It is not that there are no jobs available, it is because graduates do not have the right skills it takes for the changing job situations. This is mostly true in technical subjects like Engineering and IT. So, it is wise to learn skills and techniques to solve problems that we do not yet know are problems.

Oh, Paroimia this Friday / Saturday 8am – 10pm. Basically, it’ll go something like this. Sing songs, speech and introduction by elders of the church, a 45 minute play, emotional music plays, pastor calls for people to convert, you go to convert to christianity, then supper. Ping me if its different this time around!
