Hey,
Here are 5 quick things I want to address this Christmas: One (1): Personal Accomplishments – Two (2): Growth and Learning – Three (3): Memorable Experiences – Four (4): Challenges Overcome – Five (5): Gratitude and Optimism for the Future.
- Staying in my job for 8 months is a personal accomplishment for me. Check out my LinkedIn profile and you’ll quickly find out I have changed teams and companies quite often. This year I am still at Teleperformance, Penang with a 2000 strong workforce including those working from home and on-site. Health wise: no major scare, no major setbacks which is awesome. God is good.
- Other than growing fatter (wider) and older, I haven’t grown much. I completed my tourist guide license in April 2024 after a one-year sabbatical. I’m thankful for the lessons I learned in my company, and the guidance at work has been tremendously helpful. Thanks to my good colleagues (you know who you are), who made the journey a pleasant one. I learned that most humans are good by default, and no one is inherently bad. Give people a chance, lah!
- Driving to Phuket during CNY 2024 was the highlight. And the recent celebrations with dad turning 80 years old. It is indeed a blessing. Also, having people at work acknowledging you and being so friendly and nice to you even though I made a mess of forgetting most names, it’s nice to be in a forgiving environment.
- Challenges I overcame? I think surviving my previous team was a blessing. Make no mistake, the people were nice. It’s just some processes that I can’t agree with and was stubborn not to do. Don’t want to get into too much details, but in some professions you are pushed to do work that you know isn’t quite right. And you have no answer to your bosses as to why, or can’t articulate clearly your thoughts. I struggled, but I survived! Thanks to great supervisors and mentors.
- In 2025, I plan to visit Singapore and Thailand in the early part of the year. Let’s make it a fun trip. Relationship wise, continue to build good ones with people worth investing. Being generous in word, deed and thoughts is important too. I try to bring my friends on road trips and makan trips especially the islanders, forcing them to come to amazing food places like IKEA Batu Kawan, Tambun Seafood and Nibong Tebal Seafood Porridge. I think Butterworth also has a lot to offer; we just need time and the willingness to explore.
Here’s to a good Christmas season and a Happy New Year 2025. Send me stuff via post: Lot 853 Kg Tun Sardon, 14400 Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Malaysia or text me a WhatsApp: +60175914776
