Work
I worked for 8 months this year – which is an accomplishment as I normally switch jobs after 4-6 months. Thank God all is well, despite the occational bumps and hiccups, I’m doing well.
Tourism
I embarked on a 6 months RM 7000 course to be a tour guide. Struggled through but passed the test. In 2024, I did not get any paid jobs. However, I did apply the theories I learnt and the little details about Penang to bless my friends! I think that is enough reward for me, to see friends entertained and having fun in my beautiful state of Penang.
Travelling
Didn’t go abroad other than Thailand during Chinese New Year. We drove to Phuket which was a fun 2 day drive. I want to do that again, perhaps combo with a train trip, those overnight trains with onboard food and drinks – or even those with scenic views.
Crossing the bridge
Penang is divided into mainland and island. There are about 260 work days where I would normally have to cross the bridge. But I reckon I do it on a daily basis, about 365 times in 2024. With the toll at RM 4.59 that’s about RM1,700 in toll. Still cheaper than renting a room on the island. Plus I get to be with my father who is turning 80 years old here in Ara Kuda, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.
Final Thoughts
2024 has been a huge blessing for me. No major illness, protection from above, provision for our needs, we are truly thankful.
